Obtaining funding for a bullying prevention program is often a key concern for schools and other institutions. Fortunately, there are many organizations that offer financial assistance in the forms of grants and donations.
If you are considering implementing the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program and need to seek funding resources, it is helpful to consider the cost of the program materials, training, and optional promotional materials.
The cost of the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program materials will depend on the size of your school. Materials include:
- the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Schoolwide Guide with DVD and CD-ROM
- the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Teacher Guide with DVD and CD-ROM
- the Olweus Bullying Questionnaire with Scanning Service
Other costs to consider when implementing the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program include:
- a two-day training of the BPCC members by a certified Olweus trainer
- substitute teachers so teachers can attend a full-day staff training (you may need to work with teacher unions to determine the rate of pay)
- supplies for your school kick-off event
- optional program promotional materials (posters and and parent information - reproducible templates are available on the Schoolwide Guide CD-ROM)
- supplies such as paper to reproduce handouts and transparencies
- ongoing program evaluation costs (processing and reporting questionnaire results on an annual basis)
a "booster" training for staff
- supplemental materials for students (including bullying prevention-related literature or videos)
